John Spencer (1946-2005)

Não podia deixar de prestar a minha homenagem a John Spencer, perante o desaparecimento de uma das figuras de proa da série The West Wing.

Nesta série, John Spencer, ou melhor, Leo MacGarry foi o Chefe de Gabinete do Presidente dos EUA Jed Bartlet (Martin Sheen) durante seis épocas.

The West Wing nunca passou em Portugal num horário minimamente aceitável. Mas nos Estados Unidos foi acumulando prémios, para os seus actores ou como melhor série dramática. Jed Bartlet chegou a ser eleito como o melhor Presidente Americano de sempre, de entre figuras reais e fictícias.

Felizmente, existe a edição em DVD, estando já disponível até à «season» 6 para a zona 2, via UK, sem legendas em português.

Longe vão os tempos em que tínhamos por cá em prime-time séries da BBC como Yes Minister ou First Among Equals.

Por uma política com crédito.
